Public Relations & Strategic Communication • Education Studies
I'm Nasaiah Algarin, a communications and education strategist based in Washington, D.C. I work where schools, institutions, and the people they serve come together.
I study Public Relations and Strategic Communication at American University, with a minor in Education Studies. I founded EdCommons, an education platform I built from the ground up, and this summer I'm with Apple's Community Education Initiative. As a Strategic Communications Fellow at the D.C. State Board of Education, I led the agency's rebrand and wrote its policy blog.
My work moves between classrooms, institutions, and the communities they serve. I turn policy into plain language, build programs that didn't exist yet, and design the brands and tools that help an organization actually reach its people. I've also taught K-12 and run summer-program operations on the ground.
My family comes from two islands, Puerto Rico and Cape Verde, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, and I grew up in the U.S. in between the two. I work the way I was raised: across languages, audiences, and worlds.
Most of what I do comes down to one thing: making complicated things make sense, and helping more people get through the door. The roles change. That part doesn't.
"That's the short version. The rest of the site is the long one.
Let's begin.
